Extended Day Trimester & Registration Dates

Winter: December 1, 2025 – March 6, 2026

  • Registration Opens: Wednesday, November 12, 10:30 a.m.
  • Registration Closes: Tuesday, November 18, 10:30 a.m.

Regular Attendance & Dismissal

Block 1 Extended Day students are expected to attend the session or planned afternoon activities before departing at 4:20 p.m. The after-school team will have planned activities, learning materials, and games based on the number of students registered for Extended Day (different age groups are separated).

Interruptions in the afternoon are challenging to our students and staff and interfere with the afternoon schedule. If an early dismissal is unavoidable, please submit an early dismissal request before 10:00 a.m. and enter Extended Day or ASA into the system to notify your after-school team. Early dismissal requests are too challenging to manage just before our 4:20 p.m. dismissal, so please try not to request a pick-up between 4:00-4:20 p.m., as we may be transitioning or preparing students for dismissal.

Extended Day Dismissal Procedures

Our dismissal procedures for Block 1 are similar to the regular school dismissal.

Families are expected to arrive on time for pick up and have the family placard visible in cars, or in-hand for walk-ups. Anyone without a placard will be asked to come inside the school and must show a valid state ID card to ensure the person is authorized to pick up the child.

If you arrive on time at 4:20 p.m. and the school doors haven’t closed, you may remain in your vehicle with your placard displayed in the window, and staff will escort your child to your car. If you arrive outside of Block 1 dismissal time, all families are expected to find legal parking and enter the building to wait for the child to be brought to the security desk. Families should not head back to their vehicle without their child.

If you have a student registered for Block 2, they will not be brought to the dismissal area and will remain in the Extended Day classroom with the instructor(s). Please do not arrive at 4:20 p.m. to pick up your child from the Cafeteria if they are registered for Block 2, as we will not have them prepared to depart campus. Please wait until dismissal is complete to request an early pick-up.

Early Dismissal from After School Programs

If an early dismissal is unavoidable, please submit an early dismissal request before 10:00 a.m. When prompted to add your child’s student grade and teacher, please list Extended Day or ASA, which will notify your after-school team.

End of School Day (Regular) Dismissal

It is expected that all children will be picked up on time. Please call the Main Office if you are running late, and personnel will email the homeroom teacher/advisor. This courtesy call does not absolve parents/guardians of late fees, but may reduce stress and uncertainty for children and staff. The homeroom teacher will call and leave a voicemail if the student is not picked up during dismissal.

If you arrive outside your normal pick-up time, please find legal parking, come inside the school, check in with Security, and walk to your child's holding location to sign them out. Parents should not remain in the carline if their pick-up time has passed.

Drop-In Extended Day

Drop-in Extended Day is available as needed and is intended for those students who may not be registered for Extended Day on a regular basis. Registration for daily drop-in can be done in advance or on the day required, if you register before 10:00 a.m. Parents MUST register using the After School Registration System, which is also located on the Resources tab of the Cook Portal. Families are encouraged to log in, familiarize themselves with the registration system, and upload credit or debit card credentials so you're prepared for when registration opens and those last-minute family needs. Registering in advance helps the after-school department determine staffing needs, supplies, space, and time to notify appropriate faculty.

Daily Drop-In Rates (only if registered before 10:00 a.m.)

  • Extended Day Block 1: $35 per student
  • Extended Day Block 2: $20 per student

Behavior Expectations

There is an expectation that students will maintain their positive ROARSy behavior in after school programs as outlined by the Community Handbook, and therefore, a review of participation will take place if the expectation is not met. A student may lose the opportunity to participate in after school programming if the child’s social conduct or behavior is deemed unacceptable or posing a danger to themself or others. In general, the consequences follow a sequence of verbal reminders, a phone call to the parent/guardian, and removal from the program for that day or a specific period of time. There are no refunds for student absences due to behavior.

*Although we provide our students with a small snack before Extended Day, some students may require/want additional food. If this sounds like your child, please consider sending an extra snack for after school.
