Winter Trimester 2024-2025 Athletics Opportunities (October 29 - March 28)
Basketball
Basketball is available for 5th through 8th Grade students. The 6th-8th Grade season runs from late October through early February. Judging from last year’s rosters, we anticipate having three boys teams and two girls teams. Boys coaches are Chris McDaniel and Malcolm Scott. Girls coaches are Josh Rosenberg and Kris Haines. 5th Grade will have their own season from February through March. Games will usually be on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Practice time varies depending on the team. The first game is Tuesday, November 12.
Cheer
Cheer is an ASA available for 2nd-6th Grade students and is coached by Stacy Shafer Peterson. During the Winter Trimester, 6th Grade Cheer is held on Mondays and 2nd-4th Grade Cheer is held on Tuesdays. 5th Grade Cheer will be offered in the Spring Trimester. Cheer will follow the Auxiliary Programs registration schedule.
Additional Information
Registration Fees
The registration fee is $225 per athlete per season. This helps offset the cost of rentals, equipment, transportation, referees, and events.
Schedule
Please click here to view the Athletics calendar. Schedules will also populate in the portal once you have signed up for a sport.
Transportation
Buses are scheduled to take teams to their venues on game days and practices, when applicable. The bus is available for students to ride back to the school after a game if they do not go home with a parent/guardian.
Uniforms
Your child(ren) will be issued a jersey at the beginning of the season. It is their responsibility to launder and bring that jersey to each game of the season. We will expect the uniforms back in a timely manner at the end of the season and will invoice $25 per item that is not returned.
Playing time
Playing time will be up to the discretion of the coach and may vary between sports and teams. It will not be equal. You can expect coaches to try to get every player in every regular season game, unless there is a lesson to be learned or a discipline issue. Playing time discrepancies will be larger on Varsity than for Junior Varsity teams. 5th Grade students can practice, but may have separate, developmentally appropriate events.
Code of Conduct
We expect our players, coaches, fans, and referees to always exhibit sportsmanship and respect. Players’ behavior in school and in the classroom can have consequences related to Catherine Cook athletic teams. In addition, players must also maintain a grade higher than a 70 in all classes to be eligible to play.
