AFTER SCHOOL ADVENTURES (ASA)
Catherine Cook offers many After School Adventures (ASAs) until 4:20 p.m. daily to appeal to various student interests. Class offerings change with each trimester, are approximately 8-11 weeks long (1 day a week), and can include karate, cooking, sewing, dance, fencing, robotics, chess, cheer, and many more. Before an ASA class, students are given a short break to use the restroom and enjoy a snack before class begins.
Trimester Dates & Breaks for ASA
- Fall: September 8, 2025 - November 21, 2025
- Winter: December 1, 2025 - March 6, 2026
- Spring: March 9, 2026 – May 29, 2026
ASA and Middle School Auxiliary Club Waitlist
When the maximum number of students has been reached during registration, a "Waitlist" button will appear below the activity choice. You must add your student to the waitlist for an opportunity to receive a spot. If a space becomes available, you'll receive an email with instructions to confirm your space and submit payment. We will hold your space for 24 hours for you to act prior to alerting the next family in line.
Enrollment & Attendance
Regular attendance is necessary and expected. Pay attention to specific meeting dates and requirements in this guide's class description for each program. Registration is required for all participants. There are no refunds for student absences or prorated fees if students attend two activities that meet at the same time.
After School Dismissal Procedures (Similar to Extended Day)
Our dismissal procedures for Block 1 (4:20 p.m. dismissal) are similar to the regular school dismissal. Families are expected to arrive on time for pick up and have the family placard visible in cars or in your hand for walk-ups. Anyone without a placard will be asked to come inside the school and must show a valid state ID card to ensure the person is authorized to pick up the child. It’s imperative that families update their contact information and authorized pick-up list each trimester.
If you arrive on time at 4:20 p.m., you may remain in your vehicle with your placard displayed in the window, and staff will escort your child to your car. Your Auxiliary Team is small and mighty, but please know we do not have as many personnel as we do at regular afternoon dismissal, so please be patient and plan to wait for about 10 minutes when picking up.
If you arrive after Block 1 dismissal has ended (4:40 p.m.), all families are expected to find legal parking and enter the building to wait for the child to be brought to the security desk. Families should not head back to their vehicle without their child in hand. Students will not be escorted to the car, as we’ve concluded our dismissal.
Early Dismissal Request (Anything Before 4:10 p.m.)
If an early dismissal is unavoidable, please submit an early dismissal request before 10:00 a.m. Any request made after 2:00 p.m. may not be received in time. When prompted to add your child’s grade and teacher, please list Extended Day or an after school class, which will notify your after school team. If you arrive early without first notifying the after school personnel, it is possible it may take about 10 minutes to get your student ready to go. Please remain at the security desk to wait for your child to be dismissed to the security guard on duty – do not return to your vehicle without first getting your child. Note that this does not include students who are in Middle School athletics or tutoring on campus. To access the form, please click here.
Contacting the Auxiliary Team (After 3:00 p.m.)
If you need to reach the Auxiliary Team in the afternoon, please email us at afterschool@ccookschool.org. We do our best to check the after school email every 30 minutes to monitor communications, in the event a parent/guardian needs to reach us concerning their child that is currently in our care. After 3:30 p.m., the Main Office is closed for the day and there is no one attending the school phones at that time
MIDDLE SCHOOL AUXILIARY CLUBS
Middle School Auxiliary Clubs - not to be confused with other "clubs" in Middle School during the school day - are similar to an ASA but typically run longer or shorter than the average 8– to 11-week offerings. These clubs may meet 2 days per week for half the year or the full year. Please note that there may be off-campus events and a need for travel.
REGISTRATION & PAYMENT
Registration Begins: Wednesday, November 12, at 10:30 a.m. Registration is online via the After School Registration System on the Cook Portal. Directions for registration can be found at the top of the page. Payment is due upon registration. Please be aware that there is a 2.35% processing fee for all credit and debit card purchases. There are no associated processing fees if you use an ACH e-check.
Deadline for Registration: Tuesday, November 18, at 10:30 a.m. Once registration closes, decisions are made to cancel classes that have not met the minimum enrollment. Families impacted are contacted by email. All of our after school classes and Extended Day (by trimester) begin on Monday, December 1.
*All classes have a minimum requirement and a maximum number of spots available set forth by the vendor/instructors. If the minimum requirement is not met, the class will be canceled.
Cancellations & Refund Policy
All After School Adventures and Middle School Clubs require a minimum number of students to enroll for a successful experience. If minimum requirements are not met by the deadline for registration, refunds will be given, and alternative options will be suggested. A full refund will be given if another option is not chosen by the family.
Once a session begins, refunds can be given less a $50 administrative fee (excludes credit card fees associated with the purchase) during the program's first week. After that, there is no refund for student withdrawal. We are contracted to pay all instructors/vendors based on our student registration. So, if your child shares they’re unhappy or disinterested in their after-school class, please get in touch with your After School team to discuss your options. Students will not be able to drop their class and switch over to Extended Day if they decide they no longer want to attend their selected After School Adventure (ASA). Extended Day follows the same refund policy.
If you enroll in multiple classes (including Extended Day by trimester) for the same day of the week (example: three classes on a Monday) and submit payment, you must email your request for a refund to afterschool@ccookschool.org. Families will incur the $50 administrative fee and any credit card fees associated with your purchase(s). There will be no tuition credits or refunds in case of student absence or should a student not complete the full session. Please email your request to afterschool@ccookschool.org.
If your child’s instructor must cancel an after school class due to unforeseen circumstances, families will be notified by the After School team via email. Most of our vendors try to fulfill class assignments by sending a substitute instructor. If the cancellation is made on the same day as your student’s scheduled class, they will have the option to attend Block 1 of Extended Day (dismisses at 4:20 p.m.) at no cost to compensate for the missed session
