Wednesday, June 2, 2021 Dear Catherine Cook Community,
We are excited to share with you the merging of two Cook initiatives that we hope will bring some moments of joy, reflection, and sharing to your family. This summer, the Library and our DEI/SEL teams are partnering together to invite you to participate in the Summer DEI/SEL Family Book Club!
This asynchronous Book Club is open to students and families across all grade levels. Every reader has a choice in which book(s) they would like to read. Family members are encouraged to engage in conversations about the books, which center diversity, equity, and inclusion themes as well as social-emotional learning, by reflecting upon a short series of questions about the book(s) as provided in an interactive Pear Deck.
To participate, students will complete these two simple steps:
It's that easy!
Should you have any questions about the book lists or the process of participating in our Summer DEI/SEL Family Book Club, please reach out to us at any time. In the meantime, happy reading!
Sincerely, Megan Altmayer, Librarian Patrick Gall, Librarian Blaire Strom, SEL Teacher, Grades 3 - 8 Motoko L. Maegawa, Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Remember to consider the grade level your child(ren) will start in the fall!
