Thursday, February 27, 2020 Dear Community,
Catherine Cook administrators are meeting regularly to review the evolving situation around 2019-nCoV (coronavirus) and current recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Illinois Department of Health. According to public health officials, the health risk to the general public in the United States and Chicago remains low; therefore, classes and activities will continue as normal. We are closely monitoring the situation and taking measures to protect the health and well-being of our school community. During this time, we ask that you take a moment to review our health and wellness policies and practice good communication with teachers and School Nurse Essence Msimangira. We would also like to encourage the community to practice good hygiene and follow simple measures to lower your risk of getting sick.
As a reminder, Catherine Cook requires that students stay home if the following symptoms or signs were present in the previous 24 hours:
During this season of frequent travel during school breaks and multiple airborne viruses, please consider these helpful tips to keep you and your family healthy:
We also want to take a moment to remind the community of our mission. We take great pride in our inclusivity and we invite all community members to be mindful of bias. Modeling and encouraging ROARSy behavior for our students is critical and includes dismissing any myths that any one person or groups of people of the same origin can spread the virus more than others in the United States. Please continue to display kindness and compassion toward members of our school and greater community. We are all in this together. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain health and wellness standards for all of our constituents at Catherine Cook.
Best,
Lori-Anne Brogdon, Ed.D |
