Yearlong clubs continue until their end date:

    • Future Problem Solvers, ends April 27
    • Math Olympiad, ended March 16
    • Video Editing Club, ended March 20

2016-2017

Assembly Crew
Assembly Crew for Assemblies & Morning Meeting: Students apply in September in school; Assembly Crew meets Friday mornings 7:45-8:00 a.m.

Middle School Musical
Auditions in January; Rehearsals are TBD January - April on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays and depend on scene schedule.

Middle School Musical Tech Crew
Students apply in March in school; Rehearsals are only in April after school and take place in the week leading up to the musical performances. Students in the Assembly Crew are given priority for placement on the MS Musical Tech Crew.

Tour Guides
Students apply in September with parent permission and teacher recommendation; this year’s Admission Open House is Sunday, November 6, from 10:30-2:00 p.m.

Ballroom Dancing
7th Grade Ballroom Dancing at Women’s Athletic Club - contact parent Lisa Young for details. This is a specific 7th Grade experience with neighboring schools and organized by parents. The school is not involved directly with participation or registration.

Global Issues Network (GIN)
Application details for 7th-8th Graders will be communicated in an email in August and will be due in September. Although school sponsored, costs include conference attendance, airfare, materials, and their Monday club time after school. Students will also be meeting during their Elective time in order to prepare for the conference.

Registration Information and Procedures

Registration & Payment

All registration and payment is collected online through the Family Login > My BackPack > My Forms/Documents > Program Registration. Filter your selection by "MS Clubs & Academic Teams" for easy viewing. Pay attention to session dates and enrollment periods, as each club or team may have slightly different options depending on the activity. For example, clubs that begin at a later date than the beginning of the year will have open enrollment for a longer period of time. Payments cover session dates and take into account teacher absences and days when school is not in session. There are usually no make-up days for these Middle School experiences and fees should not be considered on a per hour basis. Joining a confirmed club or team may be possible during a non-enrollment period, but conditions and fees will apply. Contact Blaire Strom at bstrom@ccookschool.org for more details. Full Year clubs should be considered just that. Clubs that start later in the year will have another open enrollment period, but students are encouraged to enroll at the beginning of the school year.

Cancellations & Refund Policy

MS Club & Academic Team cancellations are decided at the end of the enrollment period on September 15 for the Fall Trimester, December 15 for the Winter Trimester, and March 16 for the Spring Trimester. All clubs and teams require a minimum number of students to enroll for a successful experience. If minimum requirements are not met by the enrollment period deadline, refunds will be given and alternative options will be suggested. Once a session begins, refunds can be given less a $50 cancellation fee during the first week of the program only. After that, there is no refund.

Attendance

Regular attendance is necessary and expected. All instructors want regular participation, but some are more flexible than others if students have scheduling conflicts, especially those activities that meet more than once a week. Contact the specific instructor with scheduling questions. Registration is required for all participants. There are no refunds for student absence or prorated fees if students are trying to attend two activities that meet at the same time.

Waitlist

Some clubs and teams have a maximum number of students. Select the "Waitlist" button for the activity in My Backpack. You must click "Submit" after choosing your class waitlist. If a spot becomes available, you will be contacted and payment will be due at that time. Proration is available, should a space become open mid-session.

Dismissal and Late Pick-Up

All students must be picked up on time or are expected to get themselves to their next on-campus activity in a timely manner. If 8th Graders have permission to leave school by themselves, notification should be given to the club or team instructor in writing and students must leave the campus immediately. Students not picked up on time are sent to Extended Day, where they may be charged for their supervision. No student, including 8th Graders, may stay on campus unsupervised.
