Alumnus Shares Work Fighting Racism on Campus with 8th Grade Classes
Class of 2010 alumnus Brett Jacobson (son of School Counselor Karen Jacobson) visited Mr. Harris’ 8th Grade Humanities class this morning to share his experience in the student group “the Darkening” at American University that has been fighting racism on campus. He has also done work with Black Lives Matter and recently protested on Michigan Avenue. Brett discussed how he became involved in the organization and the work they are doing to create a dialogue between students and the university’s administration. We are so grateful for Brett's visit and impressed with the 8th Graders' well developed and mature questions about combating everyday racism and injustice.
