Middle School

5th - 8th Grade

Students enter Middle School as children and graduate as bright and compassionate young adults.

The Middle School program builds on the foundation of Lower School to further deepen each student’s personal, social, and academic identity. Our Middle School teachers engage the diverse needs and interests of 10- to 14-year-olds and design curricula that allow students to grow in their strengths, work through challenges, explore new passions, and rise as leaders.

An inquiry-based academic program, innovative technology resources, and a focus on social-emotional learning and executive functioning offer students an advantage in their high school experiences. Beginning in 7th Grade, families receive tailored support as they navigate the high school placement process and select a top-tier high school that is the right fit for their child.

Choosing Catherine Cook for Middle School was the right decision for our children. Cook created a powerful community of belonging where our children felt safe to grow, make mistakes, and discover talents we never knew they possessed. They left prepared, confident, and with the tools to navigate any challenge.Jennifer Christiansen

Standardized Testing

We take a pragmatic approach to standardized testing at Catherine Cook. Standardized tests are an important part of the high school admission process, and we focus on helping students prepare to show what they know and to approach testing strategically and with confidence. Test-taking skills are also life skills, as tests can be an important factor in creating future options in school and in life.
