We are excited to announce the Catherine Cook Urban Roof, featuring a rooftop greenhouse, gathering space, and urban gardening program. The Urban Roof brings environmental concepts into a physical workspace, teaching all students the importance of sustainability in a hands-on setting. This initiative will empower our students through applied science, environmental responsibility, and emotional development.
Teachers can expand classroom lessons using practical work with vegetables, fruits, and flowering plants. Students will practice energy management, cooperative service learning, and making sustainable choices. Opportunities for cultivating life and exploring curricula in innovative ways will provide growth for the whole student, mind and body. The Office of Advancement will supervise the development and construction, as well as daily operations of the Urban Roof, with community volunteers as an integral part of its growth and success.
