After School

Learning and friendship don't end with the school day at Catherine Cook. The auxiliary programs of the Catherine Cook School serve our students outside the hours of the school day from 7:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Our goal is to provide a safe environment, a variety of enrichment experiences, and curiosity satisfaction about our world.

Our Extended Day  program (3:00-6:00 p.m.) provides a safe, supervised environment where all students can unwind after a busy day of learning, enjoy a variety of activities, and build social skills and relationships beyond the classroom setting.  From this home base, students are released to (and collected from!) sports, After School Adventures, and private lessons.

Similarly, Early Birds and Lunch Bunch serve our half-day Preschool and Junior Kindergarten students during the time they are not in the classroom. Early Birds runs from 8:30-12:00 p.m. for our PM students and Lunch Bunch runs from 11:00-3:00 p.m. for our AM students. This program is staffed with a fully credentialed teacher and assistant.

At the other end of the day, our Before School program is a warm, friendly way to start the day for students whose family schedules require an early drop off.  Students may arrive as early as 7:30 a.m. for the Before School Program for a small fee. Bring your breakfast in a bag and ease into the day before classrooms open at 8:00 a.m. (Middle School and Junior Kindergarten) and 8:15 a.m. (Preschool, Senior Kindergarten, and grades one through four). Any student arriving before 8:00 a.m. is considered to be enrolled in Before School and fees will be assessed.

After School Adventures offer a wide variety of extra-curricular opportunities for students to explore new areas of interest.  Budding athletes can explore their more creative sides with ceramics, painting, dance classes, and more.  Personalities burst forth in karate, clowning, and improvisation sessions, while instruction in Mandarin and Spanish opens doors to new cultures.  Offerings change each season (3 times a year) with a full slate of 10 weeks of age-appropriate options always on deck.  Private lessons are also available in guitar, violin, drums, piano, world languages, and art.
