CCS Lunch Program
Lunches Brought from Home:
Most of our students (Senior Kindergarten through Eighth Grade, plus Preschool and Junior Kindergarten Lunch Bunch participants) bring lunch from home. Lunch containers are to be clearly marked with the student’s name. We do not provide accommodations for items that need to be heated or refrigerated. Milk is available to all students for their meals. Students may also bring non-refrigerated juices. Carbonated drinks are prohibited. The school cannot assume responsibility for food items brought from home. For health reasons and possible allergic reactions, food items may not be shared with other students. Several of our students have food allergies (e.g. peanuts, eggs, etc.). Please check with your child’s teacher before bringing any food items to share with the class.
Hot Lunch Option:
Some parents enjoy the convenience of purchasing school lunches. Beginning in January 2010, the school will be providing a
Hot Lunch Option on a month-by-month basis, with the fee based on the number of lunches during that month.
FAQ's:
When is lunch time?
To determine when your child is scheduled for lunch, check with his/her homeroom teacher.
What about a forgotten lunch?
If a lunch is forgotten, your child can eat that day's hot lunch option for a fee. The cost of the lunch is based upon the number of unplanned lunches so far during that month. The student simply signs that they chose this option for the day, and the family will be sent an invoice for the day(s) in question. Parents and guardians can also call the school to order the hot lunch option for their child that day.
The cost of this option is $5 for the first forgotten lunch, $10 for the second, $15 for the third, $20 for the fourth, and the cost of the full month on the fifth occasion. This "count" resets for each month.
A parent or guardian may also bring a lunch to the school office by 10:00 a.m., and it will be given to the student.
Can we eat lunch with our children?
No. If interested in helping with lunches, contact the Parent Association to volunteer.
What can I bring for my child’s lunch?
We ask that families refrain from bringing Fast Food to their children for lunch. Please check with the child's teacher regarding food allergies. As always, carbonated drinks are prohibited. Please also refer to the Health and Wellness page for more detailed information.
